ABOUT ARTE GER'AÇÃO
Here at Arte Geração, we see value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change. Since our founding in 2000, we have been driven by the same ideals. The non-profit entity focuses on support, training and progress.
Addressing today's challenges requires problem solvers who bring different perspectives and a willingness to take risks. Arte Geração emerged with the mission of inspiring and supporting the community, as well as a desire to promote actions that speak louder than words.

Craft Training Courses for women and elderly women in partnership with SESC-BA aiming to provide female entrepreneurship to participants, that is, the generation of new work and income opportunities, through actions that produce culture, art and crafts, as well such as the development of skills and abilities necessary for the full exercise of citizenship. For children and adolescents, we develop activities linked to art education through the practice of sports and culture, with capoeira classes, social, psycho-pedagogical and therapeutic support, as well as socio-educational and inclusive actions with a view to seeking ways to minimize the problems caused by exclusion. that the community around them presented , especially among children and adolescents who are at social risk in terms of involvement with drugs, crime, school dropout and lack of qualifications.
OUR STORY
Arte Ger'Ação was born inspired by a very strong activity in Bahia: Capoeira. Its creator was Contramestre de Capoeira Marcelo Bezerra Pereira, also known in capoeira circles as Cacique Massaranduba. At 19 years old, capoeira provided his first trip to France.

In 2003, CM Cacique initiated actions (workshop, internships) through Events in Europe called “Natal Capoeirando” which aimed to raise funds to purchase and distribute toys at Christmas for homeless children . In the first year, this campaign benefited around 1,500 children from the Itapagipe peninsula in the city of Salvador – BA.
The event arose due to the social inequality observed by Marcelo, which was marked by a difficult childhood and with some deprivations in terms of access to opportunities guaranteed by the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA), in France he realized that all children have a dignified life or even social rights guaranteed by the French government, fundamental for the development of the human person.
As of 2009, the objective changed, thinking about offering a more consistent project, with the new purpose of acquiring financial resources to purchase a space to welcome children and their families. In November 2015, the dream came true thanks to actions in Europe and the collaboration of all teachers, students and family members who embraced the project's cause. On February 27, 2018, Cacique Massaranduba participated in the 2nd Edition of the competition that had 600 entries in search of the title of most complete capoeirista - man and woman - in the world.
#ORedBullParanauê held selections in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador and Mundo, for residents abroad, in which Marcelo was selected among the 8 finalists. Today he is in the Top 10 best capoeiristas (see the video below ).
Currently, Marcelo is 43 years old, has lived in Bordeaux-France for 24 years and disseminates the art of capoeira to 250 students between the cities of Bordeaux and Angoulême.
Today, he plays a fundamental role as advisor to the Arte Ger'Ação Association and, together with other teachers, students and mothers of the Arte Negra Capoeira Group who reside in France and Germany, supports the work carried out by the members of the Board of Directors, especially Silvia (sister) and Eremita (mother), who have been at the forefront of the social project since its foundation, in the city of Salvador – Bahia – Brazil.

TARGET AUDIENCE AND TERRITORY
Children and adolescents, from 4 to 17 years and 11 months of age, women and elderly people, resident and domiciled in the city of Salvador – Bahia.
The location of the institution is part of the neighborhoods of the Itapagipe peninsula. The Itapagipe Peninsula covers an area of 697 ha. and a population of over 170 thousand inhabitants, spread across a set of 14 neighborhoods: Uruguai, Ribeira, Bomfim, Monte Serrat, Dendezeiros, Bairro Machado, Alagados, Vila Rui Barbosa, Massaranduba, Baixa do Petróleo, Boa Viagem, Calçada, Mares and Pomegranate. In the 1940s, an industrial boom occurred, causing the installation of industries in the agricultural and textile sectors, as well as shipyards and sisal deposits. This industrial cycle impacted the increase in the low-income population, environmental pollution, inducing the expansion of favelas in the area and causing the emergence of the largest stilt neighborhood in the country, known as Alagados. Itapagipe has an important material and immaterial historical-cultural heritage, as well as tourist sites, community entities, such as NGOs, associations and other collectives that work in the community in the fields of education, health, human rights and economic and community development.
However, the Itapagipe Peninsula is also, today, an economically depressed area with no prospects for development, environmentally degraded and strongly marked by urban violence, crime, drug use, racism and has one of the largest pockets of poverty in Salvador.
